Metal monoliths Mastodon make their way to The Vogue Theatre in Indianapolis on April 30th. Hailing from Atlanta, GA, Mastodon made tiny waves in the metal community when they released their full-length album, Remission in 2002. However, it was the band’s 2004’s Leviathan, based loosely on the classic novel, Moby Dick, that then brought the tidal waves and gave Mastodon their solid place as a critically and commercially successful band. The Grammy’s took notices and nominated the song Colony of Birchmen for “Best Metal Performance”. Mastodon released Crack the Skye in 2009. Their songs have popped up in a slew of video games, and the band is currently working on the film score for the DC comic adaptation of Jonah Hex set to be released this summer. Folk singer/songwriter Martin Sexton will showcase his talents at the Vogue Theatre in Indianapolis on April 22nd. The self-taught musician has been scooping up rave reviews everywhere he goes with his incredible vocal range, soulful style, and senior songwriting abilities. Sexton formed his first band while in middle school, played through high school, and finally headed to Boston to gain his musician’s credentials. His first effort, In the Journey, was released on a cassette tape. In 1994, Sexton wooed the National Academy of Songwriters, and took home the “Artist of the Year Award”. Since his beginnings, he has released several studio and live records, and the 2010 album Sugar Coating is scheduled to be released in April. Clutch was Formed in 1990 in Germantown, MD, and All Music Guide calls their sound a fusion of funk, Led Zeppelin, metal, and a Faith No More-inspired vocals. After label-hopping for several years, the band signed to Columbia records to release 1998’s Elephant Riders where their fan base grew. As a teen, he attended a boarding school in Switzerland where he met his future band mates. In 2001, The Strokes released their commercially and critically successful garage rock album, Is This It. Two albums later, in 2006, the band took a hiatus, and many of the members worked on solo projects while Casablancas collaborated with other artists.
